MILTON, MA, January 20, 2014 – Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Milton has been named to the 2013 Harvard Pilgrim Health Care Hospital Honor Roll. Harvard Pilgrim's Hospital Honor Roll recognizes those adult, acute care hospitals whose performance was among the top 25% of those measured nationally on a set of composite clinical quality, patient experience and patient safety measures, as reported by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on Hospital Compare and the Leapfrog Group.
Hospitals were evaluated on processes of care in four categories: heart attack care, healthcare associated infection, pneumonia care, and surgical care improvement. The results of patient surveys measuring patient hospital experiences were included. CMS patient safety measures included results hospitals achieved in healthcare associated infections and Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) patient safety composite scores.
“Providing safe, high-quality care with positive patient and family experiences is our top priority and we are proud to have been recognized for this achievement,” said BID-Milton President & CEO, Peter Healy.
BID-Milton was one of only 11 hospitals in Massachusetts to be recognized. The recognition is the latest validation of the quality and safety standards exhibited at BID-Milton. In October of 2013 BID-Milton earned an A in patient safety by the Leapfrog Group and was named Top Performer on Key Quality Measures® by The Joint Commission for pneumonia and surgical care.
Honor Roll hospitals are noted in Harvard Pilgrim’s printed and online provider directories as well as on the organization’s web site (www.harvardpilgrim.org), enabling consumers to evaluate and select hospitals based on quality and safety performance.
